The Churches of the West Continue to decline, despite some encouraging exceptions. That decline can, under God, be reversed – but we need to realize what is happening.
There is indeed fresh interest in matters spiritual. But explains Dr Robinson, “many observers are frustrated by the failure of the Church to connect with that shift in religious awareness. That frustration is probably because we are asking the wrong question. It is no good Looking at something as fluid as Spirituality and thinking in methodological terms in the hope of finding a ‘hook’ to bring people back to church.”
