BIB101 – Biblical Studies

30 Credits (Core)

1. Introduction to Biblical Literature: We explore the Bible, taking account of the times in which it was written, to see more of its missional purpose in sharper focus.
2. Hermeneutics: How can we use the Bible as a creative resource in mission while ensuring that its meaning stays the same? What tools and principles should we use?

TH102 – Theological Studies

30 Credits (Core)

1. Introduction to Theology: God has always been in the business of mission. We explore major themes in theology that help us to see more clearly how theology has developed out of the experience of the church in mission.
2. Christology: The declaration that Jesus is Lord challenges every ideology and religious system. We explore the way that the Christian community has understood the claims of the person of Jesus in the context of mission.

HIST103 – Historical Studies

30 Credits (Core)

1. Early Church in Mission: Starting with the book of Acts and the letter to the Romans the mission history of the early church is explored up to 300 CE.
And either:
2. History of Children’s Ministry:
Children’s ministry is a relatively new development in the life of many congregations. We explore how this emphasis has developed and what it seeks to achieve.
Or
3. History Missional Leaders in the Western Church:
What can we learn from the lives and ministries of some key missional leaders in the history of the church that can help us in the western church today?

PP100 – Pastoral Practice

30 Credits (Elective)

1. Pastoral Care: How do we care for people while at the same time draw them into an active engagement in mission?
2. Youth Ministry 1: Young people are profoundly impacted by a post-modern way of thinking. What does that look like and how does it compare with the world of modernity that is passing?
3. Spiritual Formation: How do we help people develop a well rounded spirituality that will enable them to live their Christian lives well?

CMIN107 – Children’s Ministry

30 Credits (Elective)

1. Children’s Pastoral Care: Caring for children pastorally and missionally giving due recognition that they are today’s church forms the scope of this topic.
2. Good Practice in Children’s Ministry: There are many issues relating to child protection and the special needs of children which are clarified in this topic.
3. Contextualised Preaching to Children: This topic focuses on the nature of preaching to children in terms of a multimedia approach.
